ERDF 2014-2020
The Walloon ERDF programme 2014-2020 pursues the objectives of the Europe Strategy 2020 (smart, sustainable and inclusive growth) in keeping with other regional development policies. With a total budget of 1,703,375,378 euros (including an ERDF grant of 681, 350,151 euros), the European Union is investing alongside Wallonia with the aim of stimulating economic development and job creation, strengthening applied research and its outcomes, revitalising large urban areas, and promoting energy transition by investing in renewable energies and energy efficiency.
The 2014-2020 Cohesion Policy focuses on the priorities of the ‘Europe Strategy 2020’, aimed at achieving smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The whole of Wallonia can benefit from the ERDF and ESF grant. However, it is divided into two types of regions:
- – transition regions (GDP per capita > 75% and < 90% of the European average), namely the provinces of Hainaut, Namur, Liège and Luxembourg,
- – developed regions (GDP per capita > 90% of the European average), namely the province of Walloon Brabant.
7 strands
The strands and measures are co-financed with 681 million euros from the ERDF out of a total cost of 1,703 million euros. As with the previous programme, public projects were selected following two calls for proposals, while company projects can be submitted throughout the programme.
